Dr. Eleanor Sabean been practicing in Maine since 1993. A native of Nova Scotia, she graduated from the Atlantic Veterinary College in Prince Edward Island with her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) in 1993 also. Veterinary medicine, her first love, is a second career for her; after working as a Systems Analyst and university professor (she also earned a Bachelor of Commerce and an MBA before going to vet school) she decided to pursue the only "business" she would truly enjoy. Designing, building, setting up and opening Lakeside Vets in 2004 has been a realization of this dream.
Dr. Sabean finds working with pets and their people always interesting and continues to love learning about new and better ways to care for her patients. Surgery is an area of particular interest for her, and she has been working to improve her skills in ultrasound as well. Her background in teaching also helps her communicate with owners about their pets, which she feels is the cornerstone of effective care. Helping owners understand what a pet is going through, what it needs, and how it can be helped is very important to her. Dr. Sabean loves living in Oakland with her small zoo of three human children, two cats, three dogs, a special bunny and four horses.

Dr. Jennie Marvelle has been practicing in Maine since graduating from Texas A&M University with her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 2009. She has worked in the veterinary field in many capacities. Before becoming a veterinarian, she had spent time working in research, specialty, referral, emergency and general veterinary practices, as well as an animal shelter and a zoo.
The thing that Dr. Marvelle loves most about veterinary medicine is that it provides her the opportunity to not only help animals, but to help the people that love them. Her special interests include pain management, sports medicine, and soft tissue surgery.
Dr. Marvelle currently lives in Hallowell, where she enjoys the live local music and the company of her Australian Cattle Dog, Maggie, and one large orange kitty, Dax. A native of Rhode Island, she enjoys kayaking and hiking in her free time.
